Three Transformational Questions to Completely Change Your Life
For many people there comes a time in their lives when they feel stuck. They feel uninspired, unfulfilled, and unhappy with the way things currently are. They desperately want to change their life yet the reality is, they have no idea what that change might look like let alone how to get there. If you’re reading this article, chances are you’re feeling that urge to change your life, too.
Below you will find my top three transformational questions to ask yourself whenever you can’t seem to find a way forward. These questions work for me personally every time and have worked for countless of my clients looking to change their life, too. Their transformational power is so great, these questions actually form the backbone of my group coaching program UNBOUND.
Now you might already be telling yourself that you are too busy, too stressed, or simply don’t have the time to engage in self-reflection and ask yourself a bunch of questions. When in reality, the right question can do more to motivate you to transform yourself and ultimately change your entire life than reading a whole bookshelf of inspirational books or attending several ‘how to’ seminars.
Why is that?
The following transformational questions allow you to turn inward and reflect on your current reality as well as your desired future. At the same time, they equip you with a roadmap to reach those desires.
You are ultimately bringing together vision and inspired action, the two essential aspects of creative manifestation. You will emerge from this simple process not just knowing yourself better than you did before but with greater clarity, direction, and purpose as well.
Life is essentially one big journey. You need a starting point. You need to know your destination. And then, depending on your priorities, you determine the best route to get from here to there.
If this sounds like a clinically efficient way to look at life, then that’s because it is. But otherwise, you risk running around in circles and wasting precious time and energy.
You see, for a successful and fulfilling life journey, you need to be aware of all three aspects of it: Where are you starting from? Where do you want to go? What’s the most efficient, the most scenic, the least traveled way to get there, depending on what you want to discover and experience? And if you’re feeling stuck at any point of the journey, that’s usually because you aren’t clear enough on at least one of those aspects.
Let’s start with the first question:
Who are you?
This equals the starting point of your journey, the foundation for everything that’s to come. But what seems like such a simple question can easily prove the most difficult one to answer. We’ve been conditioned most of our lives to be different things to different people. So the real question here is: Who are you authentically? Beneath all the roles you play every day, who are you when no one is watching?
What do you want?
Once you’ve gotten to know your authentic self it’s time to set your compass. This question invites you to dream BIG. I always tell my clients, that no matter how big your vision is, if you can dream it, you can do it. Your desires are unique to you and you wouldn’t have them if there wasn’t a way to make them a reality. So dream up your ideal future whether that’s a month from now, a year, or 10 years and come up with as many details as you can.
How do you get there?
Now that you are aware of your ultimate destination, it’s time to create a step-by-step roadmap. Ask yourself: Which tangible steps can you take action on today to create momentum? What are some of the strengths you can utilize to create the smoothest journey possible? And what are personal weaknesses to be aware of to avoid any stumbling blocks along the way? Which old habits and behaviors do you need to let go of to achieve your goal? And what are new habits and behaviors you can adopt to help you?
